2023 2024

From a morphological and lithological point of view, the appellation is both complex and varied. Several geological units are found before reaching the piedmont and alluvial formations (pebbles).
On either side of the granite and its sandy -or sandy-clayey - soils, the metadiorites and meta-basalts of the blue stones are mixed with other grey-pink siliceous rocks.

HISTORY :

The northernmost cru of the Beaujolais, Saint Amour is the terminal of the «Crus» road. The very charming hamlet of Saint Amour would go back to Roman times, when a warrior Amor, converted himself to catholicism and founded a monastery settled on the dominant peak of the Saône valley.

VINIFICATION :

Manual harvest of Gamay Noir with white juice.
Vatting by gravity, in concrete tanks. Maceration in whole grapes for about ten days, including pumping over and delestage, before pressing, to extract the maximum structure and color. The wine is then aged on fine lees in vats.

WINE :

Colour: Rubis grenat profond.

Nose: Rich floral (peony, reseda) and fruity (raspberry and vine peach) aromas, nuanced with kirsch.

Palate: Dense with a beautiful harmony between tannins and aromas.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS :

Saint-Amour is best appreciated when young, but it may be laid down for 3 to 5 years. It is the perfect accompaniment to poultry, red meat and soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert. Serve at between 15 to 16°C.

VINTAGE :

The 2024 vintage was certainly a challenging one. The warm and humid winter gave way to a gloomy spring, but the temperatures favored the early budburst. The start of summer was mixed with rain, sun and variable temperatures. The heat of August helped to sanitize the vines and the harvest started in the beginning of September. The vintage will be marked by a heterogeneous production requiring high technicity, but the quality is very satisfying.
